Default 2WD Low?

Alright so my 4x4 stoped working, transfer case didnt engage for a week or so but now it engages but both 4Hi and 4Lo lights stay lit. Also I must be in neutral and press 4Lo for the tcase to engage. So now my front axle isnt engaging and I have 2WD Low, awesome for snow donuts but thats about it. I first thought it was the vacum diaphram under the battery tray but when my buddy's rig diaphram broke his tcase didnt engage.. Needless to say im kinda confused!? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like a vac problem or the cable is seizing up

id start there

what you could do is disconnect the cable from the diaphram and pull it manually then lock it with a pair of channel locks .

engage the 4wd and go on something slippery snow, ice , mud or you can drive on wet pavement then do a sharp turn ... you should feel a binding feeling in the steering (best in 4lo)

Do not try this all the time since its bad for the drive tran but yea you should will feel the front axles engaged

What Gio said
also, you should always be in Neutral when shifting to 4lo.
