Default 2wd vs 4wd rear axle width?

Is the 2wd axle narrower than the 4wd axle? I am wondering because the 2wd wheels have what, 2" less backspacing but still seem to tuck up under the body as much as the 4wd, when in theory should stick out 2" more than the 4wd if the axle is the same width.

You are correct, the 2wd is 54", 4wd is 59", and ZR2 is 63".

So then putting some 2wd wheels on our 4wd would help fix the 'tucked-in' look of the rear end that our trucks have? Does anyone have any pics of 2wd wheels on a 4wd Blazer?

You have to be careful with backspacing since 2wd are 4-4.5" of backspacing. This puts extra wear on the wheel bearings and might cause you to rub, either on your fender or frame.

You can either get a ZR2 rear and use the same 4wd rims ($$$) or get spacers for the rear ($).

Putting 2wd rims will push the wheel out further, but in the front AND the back, so you will still have a 'tucked' look.
