Default 3.42 to 3.73 gears

Ok so I found out that I don't have the gt4 package and now I would like to install it. I know on most Zr2's and some regular s10 and blazers they have the 3.73 gears. I also know that from the Zr2 both differentials will swap over just fine. I also heard that on some blazers that the rear is 3.42 but the front is 3.73, is this true or was the person who told me mistaken? Also, if I am unable to find the whole rear axle and front differential, is buying just the gears restricted to being specific to the blazer or are all 3.73 gears universal. Also, since it is 4x4, would I buy the same 3.73 gear and spline for the front as the rear or is it a different configuration? Thanks!

All ZR2's came with 3.73's

On a stock vehicle, the gears in the front and gears in the back will always match.

If you are going to buy just gears, you need to buy gears specific to the axle they are going into, so the front will be different than the back, and the back would be different for a ZR2 than most non-ZR2's.

Front is a GM 7.25" Differential, Rear is either a GM 7.5" (non-ZR2) or GM 8.5" (all ZR2 and some non-ZR2)

Best and easiest and cheapest solution for you would be to do the swap to ZR2 axles though.

They are VERY mistaken... The front and rear gears have to match, otherwise there will be very loud and expensive noises from your drivetrain when you engage 4wd! Don't take any more advice from this person! LOL

Like red said stop talking to that person!!! Gears MUST match front to rear. A ZR2 axle will be wider than what you have now but is a slightly stronger axle and will make the rear width match the front. I'll be selling all of my 3.73 stuff in about 2 months!! I've also got the G80 option in the rear
