Default 4.11 gears?

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy 4 dr and if I want to regear my truck for 32s is 4.11 gears ok? I think I have 3.43 if I remember right. Will 4.11 gears give me horid mpg? Any pros or cons? And will I need two sets of these these?

And is regearing a diy job? Or should a shop do it? Thanks

Those would be the perfect gears for 32's. MPG shouldn't be affected too much from what you got stock. If you have a 4wd, you need to change the gears front and rear.

And if you have to ask if this is a DIY job, have a shop do the job.

Not to thread jack, but what do parts and labor cost on replacing gears for my 4x4?

I have 3.43 and would like 3.73.

Okay, now I just need to find out how much some 3.73 gears in good condition would run. Because this is definitely an install I wouldn't want to attempt right now lol.

I bought some 3.73 gears and a trac loc for my stang on ebay for 200
Master bearing kit was 75.00 from american muscle.
now granted that is all for a mustang...but gives you a good idea.

I wish i knew how to do the swap and rebuild myself...wouldnt even know how to start.

The rear axle, labor wise, isn't bad as they can do it by just dropping the cover.

The front? Quite a bit more as they have to drop the front diff because it is a spit casing.

I haven't priced it but most I've seen are around $800-1000 for labor only.
