Default 4wd issue

I just bought a 1995 blazer 4wd and once in 4wd it is difficult to get back in 2wd. I can herar the clicking under the dash when I push any of the buttons, When I push the 2wd button most of the time it stays in 4wd high, any help will be appreciated.

no, tried it on the fly at different speeds and sitting still. It did it the first day when I bought it but I was able to get it back into 2hi while sitting at a light. Tried 4wd again tonight but it now it won't go back. Also I should note that none of the 4wd lights are working.

You may have to get the front axle up in the air and see if you can spin the front driveshaft after someone presses the 2HI button.

Can you easily shift from 4HI to 4LO?

It is possible that you have the same problem I just repaired in my uncle's '99 Sonoma with the NV233 transfer case.

That's the inside of the encoder motor on the transfer case. His condition was very similar to yours in that it would shift from 4HI to 4LO just fine, but would not shift to 2HI.
