Oh yeah trust me i totally agree. I was dong the Bravada axle but i couldent find anything for it or even an AWD Astro axle and tube and no where even in the local states around me so i had to say screw it. It honestly shouldent be anymore than $100 for the posi lock cable. I heard the price doubled once they became more popular but still

Yeah i'm sure you can make it more professional than the DIY cable. Little bit of painting, re-running the cable etc. I think its a great idea. Can you still switch to 4wheel on the fly or do you have to be stopped? I think i read over that just being lazy and dont feel like re-reading lol.

transfer case switch is on the top of the transfer case. it has 3 vacuum hoses that run to it. one goes to the actuator, one to a vent, and one supplys the vacuum. dont bother going to the store to get another solenoid unless you know for sure its the right one. when i changed my input shaft seal i did all this also and i got a new solenoid, turns out the places where the hoses fit are just a bit smaller so they dont get enough suction to engage the actuator. i just put my old one back on and veola. i had 4x4 again.

Have you checked out the links previously posted in this thread? Have they helped?

What are you driving? How many buttons are there on the 4wd switch in the dash?

So like the one guy said, can you still engage 4x4 high on the fly??? Also, I really like the idea of having 2wd low, which I had this weekend because something is messed up on mine too, probably the acuator...but anyways, could'nt driving it in "2wd low" be bad on something?

i dunno if you've figured it out 9Blazer6, but i had 4x4 probs that i tried to diagnos and fix before i discovered this forum ended up being diff from yours but i might be able to help a little, your saying that when ur friend pushes the button..the diaphragm under the battery dosen't compress into itself? but ur transfer case does engage front drive shaft? if that is the case it sounds like a classic disconnected or ripped/burnt vacuum line, if i were you i would follow the vacuum line from the diaphragm under the battery all the way back to the t-case switch looking for slits/ breaks/deadends/burns/or cracks, my buddy's S10 had the smalllllllest burn/crack ive ever seen so we put some rubber cement on the line and the diaphragm started to compress again and it fixed his 4x4 straight up
