Just like to say hi for starters, I am new to this forum.

I am driving a 1996 Blazer LT.

I have a problem when in 4X4, drives perfect when going straight, but when go to turn it starts shaking, slows down, and makes a rumbling. Is this a common thing? How serious is this and how much do you think to get fixed?

If you are in 4wd and turning on a high traction surface, this sounds like normal drivetrain bind. There is no center differential to allow for speed differences between the front and rear axle. During most turning, no one wheel follows the same path of the rest. This causes binding in the drivetrain on high traction surfaces. Basically, only engage 4wd when on loose gravel, snow covered roads, or in the mud.
