Default 4x4 problems

Hey I have a 1994 S10 Blazer and I am having some 4x4 problems and im not sure where to start looking.

I have the button to engage the 4x4 and its really aggravating. sometimes i cant get it out of 4x4, i have to play with it for a while.

and I can hear the transfer case engage but my front wheel will not spin.

idk where i should start and look.

Please help

Thanks

You can start by having a look in the Tech Article (DIY) Index link in my signature. Lots of good info there!

Check the link in my sig about the vacuum. Should be about the exact same setup.

Default front axil

all I can say is look at the vacuum diagram and don't over trouble shoot.

My front axil wasn't engaging either.

I checked tho vacuum to the engager diaphrem located under the battery and it was only get 4 inches. I checked the vacuum to the transfer case and it was at 15". So I figured it was the switch on the xfer case so I bought a new one at the tune of 47 dollars. That didn't work either . So scratching my head I checked the vacuum line that leads from the switch to the engager under the battery with a vacuum pump to find I couldn't draw any vacuum. The hose ran over the trans so I couldn't see it. I replaced it to find the hose had two holes rubbed in it. Now it works fine

So the moral of the story is check everything before you just throw money at it.

Considering that you have a completely different setup (NV236 transfer case) as what is being discussed in this thread (NV233 transfer case), it is best if you create your own thread on the subject if you cannot find the information you need after searching and reading the threads in the Tech Article (DIY) section.
