Default 4x4 question

alright after a vague search, i found nothing on my topic that was getting anywhere. im wondering what is included in making my 93 bravada with smart trac 4x4 into 2x4. i was told it could be as simple as taking out the shaft that goes to the transfer case. i've also decided that for power benefits this is what i want to do in case anybody wants to know. not trying to sound like a smart *** there.

What kind of power benefits are you hoping to gain?

Default RE: 4x4 question

The real problem is that the transfer case is an fulltime AWD. I believe the split is 30%F, 70%R all of the time.

So, basically, to get rid of the AWD, you would need to either get a 4wd transfer case and lock it in 2wd mode or gut the transmission to swap out the tailshaft for the longer 2wd tailshaft, install a 2wd tail housing and use a 2wd driveshaft. Then you could remove your front axle.
