Default 4X4 question

Been a Jeep guy for awhile and I'm lookin at gettin a Blazer - late 90's or so. Is their 4 wheel system a full-time or part-time system? I mean, can they be driven on dry pavement without damaging anything? Got used to the part-time but I'd like to get a full-time if that's what they have.
Any other help or suggestions regarding what I might look for in a used Blazer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Default RE: 4X4 question

If the vehicle has the 'Auto 4wd' option, then it can be driven on dry pavement in 4wd mode. If it only has 4hi, 2hi, N, 4lo, then it is only part-time.

You can drive it in auto4 but it uses more fuel than rear two wheel drive.

I thought the Auto 4WD option made it so that when your rear wheels spun, it kicked itself into 4WD and when you let off the gas, it went back into 2WD.... The Auto 4's got a different transfer case?
