4x4 Will Not Engage

4x4 Will Not Engage
I just had my 87 Blazer 4x4 working the day before without any issues. I get in the truck the next day and my front tires are not turning at all. Us Blazer owners know we need 4x4 in the snow because we do not weigh that much. Any help with this????? Vacuum leak? Transfer case low on fluid? Any help or areas of interest would be great. Thanks!

What do you hear when attempting to go into 4WD? What lights do you have on the dash in reference to 4WD? What do you feel when trying to go into 4WD?
Could be any number of issues so we have to find out what the symptoms are and what you have done to troubleshoot it , so far..

The only light that comes on is the one for 4x4 wether I''m in low or high. So the light comes on and I don't really hear much of anything when I engage it. There's no grinding or anything like that. It shifts pretty smooth when I try and shift it into gear.

Sounds like the vacuum side is not delivering vacuum to the actuator to lock in the front axle.
With the engine running, raise the right front wheel, put it in Park and in 4HI.
Try to rotate the wheel. It should turn a little then stop. Do this in both directions.
If it DOES turn and lock in both directions, then the vacuum system is fine and we have to look somewhere else.
If it DOES NOT lock, then we are probably looking at a vacuum side issue.
If it DOES lock in one direction but not the other direction, then you have a front axle disconnect issue.
Check this out and let us know..
