Default 95 zr2 rear axle swap with 96 standard blazer rear end

Greetings, so I've a 95 zr2 blazer, the rear end started making a loud click/squeak. Called gm parts with my vin and they said my rear end is 7.58 ring gear and 373 ratio. Found a rear end off a 96 stock blazer, from what I've read it will work and I'll need 2" wheel spacers to even out the back wheeles with the front...am I on the right path?

The ZR2 axle is 3" or so wider than the stock 4x4 axle. If you're going to sort that out with spacers, I'd suggest 1.5" spacers. You'll probably also need to replace the brake lines as I'm pretty sure the ZR2 lines will be too long for the non-ZR2 axle.

3.9" wider to be a bit more exact and 8.5/8.625" on the rear end. Not sure exactly what the OP is driving but sure doesn't sound like a ZR2. Are you going just by a set of stickers or what the previous owner told you?

the guy that sold it to me turned out to be a liar. In going thru paperwork in the glovebox, last year the truck had 247,xxx when I bought it in April it had 149,xxx. I'm beginning to think it's not a zr2.
