Default 99 blazer clicks when turning in 4x4 only, already replaced CVs

i have a 99 blazer 4x4 that clicks when turning... doesn't have to be going around corners, will click if the wheel is slightly turned while driving too. this ONLY happens in 4x4, it has no problems or noises in 2wd. i already replaced the cv axles but it did not help. my mechanic said it's likely to be a bearing in the transfer case, i forget what exactly. does this sound right? if so, is there a write-up on how to replace it?

seems like it's a bad output shaft bearing in the transfer case. by the time i get all the necessary parts and pay someone to tear it down i figured it would be cheaper just to buy a new one, so i ordered a used transfer case with 87k miles for $140 shipped... any good write ups on how to replace it, with pictures? what are the additional parts i will need when replacing it (any gaskets, etc)?
