Default Changing gear ratio in 8.5-10 bolt G-80

I have a rat rod with a Chevy 292, 3 speed Saginaw and a 95 Blazer 3:72 G-80 rear end. This setup is to low for highway driving/cruising. 55mph=2500rpm.
I'm thinking about changing the gear ratio to 2:73 or 3:08.
First of all, can this be done without affecting the Eaton G-80 limited slip mechanism?
Has anyone tried the above gear ratio with a 292?
Any help/ideas,suggestions would be appreciated....

i dont see why the swap would be a problem, there is though in some cases
where the diff carrier wount fit the ring gear, that seems only going from
3.42 to somthing real low like 4.56, your gear change is not that extream,
call a gear shop to be double sure... oh, the eaton g-80 should still be usable
