Default cv to hub poor fit

hey all, a little background. ive replaced all steering joints and ball joints and am now getting around to doing the last part, hubs and cv shafts.

today I did the passenger side (havnt done drivers side yet), and would like to know your opinions. before i do the drivers side.

the cv shafts are cardone, and the hubs are timken.

I put everything back together and the cv doesnt sit " tight and flush" against the steering knuckle & wheel seal. Ive taken apart and put back together about 4 times today. everything is tight except that area.

is this because of the timken hub ?
here are pictures * warning ! large photos *

drivers side ( notice its flush )

If the nut torqued down, I would not worry much about it. The aftermarket manufacturers may machine their shafts a bit different which may result in a different fit into the bearing. How does the truck drive? What did you use to tighten the axle nut down?

actually, i think its a difference in the timken hub not the shaft. one of the multiple times i took it apart i stuck my old shaft in and it was fitting the same way. the only thing that seems bad is its not tight against the wheel seal, so that is loose too

I use my torque wrench for the hub nut and my lug nuts. i use 103 ft lbs for both.

as far as driving goes, it drives good, and its quiet. i still get a very slight groan when taking hard left turns... but nothing new there. cant hear it at all with the windows down.

im the only one that can hear it, i must have super hearing. lol

Have you looked for a difference in the hub spline entrance on the back side? It might be something you can open up to get it to sit flush.

the only thing ive noticed different between the two is the timken hub has a flanged end where the shaft meets it, the other hub did not.

you can kind of see the flange in this pic im borrowing from hanr3's thread. between his index finger and thumb.

as you can see the old one does not have that flange

Looks like that side is just machined differently. There is still a surface there for the shaft to butt up against. It should not be a problem at all.
