i had huge diff problem when i changed an axle seal. and getting that plug out was one of them. i ended up drilling a hole in the face cover and putting a oil drain plug near the top so i could fill the diff from the cover. made it much easier

yeah, i thought about doing that, but i am trying to get my hands on a zr2 diff. the only reason why i am changing the diff lub is because it hasn't been done since this truck has been made. and it is also low.

Whatcha wanna do with a ZR2 differential?

You know theyve got 8.5 rear ends, and we have 7.625s right?

for that reason, it is bigger, and i won't have to do anything to it when i but the 32s on it. yeah, it is wider than the one i got, but that will save me from having to buy spacers.

I want a ZR2 rear end as well

If/When you get/install it, see if you can get some pics and maybe do a quick write up on it. I'd be very interested to see what bolts in and what needs modifying!!

I know the sway bar mounts and the rear brake lines need modifying...but I dunno about the leaf perches and e-brake and everything else.

i think it should bolt straight in. the spring packs are the same for zr2 and regular 4x4. last i looked (before the junkyard smashed the zr2 i was about to buy the parts from) everything was a straight in bolt on. minus the the sway bar and the having to to do a rear dis conversion in the back. question, why didn't gm make that a factor stock on all trucks(rear disc)?
