fist gen transfer case swap?

what transfer case upgrades or swaps can be performed to stock 91 jimmy transfer case, needs to handle tork from a 355 small block chevy, trans will be a v8 version of the 700r4

I plan on just running mine stock (NP207). If it goes the tranny rebuilder said that he could beef it up. Or maybe there is something out there that is gear driven instead of chain. Are you going to be beating on it?
