Question Front bumper tow hooks

Hi, I haven`t been on here in awhile.Been busy with life working.I`m in the process of wanting to install two front tow hooks on my 2001 Ls blazer.I`m looking to buy two used tow hooks from a friend of mine.It only has screws on it.I took a look at my front bumper fascia where the fog lights go.Looks like I`ll have to cut the fascia in order to install the hooks. At the same time I took a look at the front frame area where the hooks fasten to.Both frames have a notch on them. From the way the notch looks like..I`m missing some parts.the question I have is..Will I need two pieces of steel also in order to tighten the bolts and nuts to the frame?

Thanks a bunch!

if i remember correctly if they are factory hooks yeah theres a piece of steal that slides into the frame with two threaded holes attached for you to bolt the hooks too.

Thanks for the info. But there`s no steel piece like your talking about. You have any clue as to where I can find these steel pieces?Or can I just rig up a coupe of pieces?

it was just a plate that slide into the frame rail behind the bumper. i would guess you can just make em as they were pretty simple. no clue who would still sell them, maybe you can snag them out of a junkyard.

you could just use large washers and nuts inside the frame rail if you dont plan on doing any heavy pulling with them

4wd hooks are threaded so the bolts go directly to the hook. the frame has 2 holes for the bolts to pass through.

I don't know if 2wd ones ever came with hooks or how they were attached.

My 2wd s10 didn't have the holes in the frame for hooks, I drilled the holes myself.

I may have to just drill out some holes in order to hook them up.I don`t think there`s any holes on the bottom of the front frame.

Thanks a bunch!

I don`t recall seeing any holes on the bottom of the frame. But it looks like I will have to bust out the Makita drill to drill up some holes. If your S10 didn`t have holes I`m sure mine doesn`t either. They do have slots on the inside of the frame facing the engine. Not sure what there for.I`ll probably only use them if need be.Since it`s not a 4x4 I won`t have to use them a whole lot. It`s just that I like the look with front hooks on them.

Thanks for you time!

I`m gonna just have to drill up some holes.I`ll just mark the holes from the underside that way I won`t go wrong with lining up the screws.Nothing worse than drilling holes twice in piece of steel.I know for sure it will be a weak point.I`ll just have to get someone with small hands to feed the nuts on the screws.Lol!

Thanks for your time!
