Default Front Differential Problem

Yesterday on the highway I started to get a funny grinding noise and some smoke coming from the front end. I noticed an abnormal large amount of gear oil leaking from the front. Also while driving it later to a friends house for him to look at it, it totally quit moving...i.e. engine was running but it wouldn't move. The truck has 121k miles on it and is 10 years old. Would it have blown a gasket or seal in the differential? Any help or comments would be great. Thank you in advance!

Well you may have blown a seal which was when the gear lube was running out,but if its basically locked up now from driving without lube,it may be toast.
