Think maybe a couple of us have done some of that...start here with the ball joints:

Did my front end last year. Hardest part for me was separating the pitman arm from the steering linkage. Real PIA

Get a tie rod fork for starters. Spray the nuts etc a few days ahead of time with PB Blaster or w/e you have on hand, SeaFoam Creep works well for me. In a 2nd gen blazer/jimmy you'll probably have to loosen or remove the steering box bolts & lift the box to remove the pitman. Again - soak everything in a good penitrant a couple days ahead of time & every day up to the day of the work... you'll thank me later lol.

DON'T use a pickle fork to separate the pitman arm from the relay rod, (center link, drag link, whatever). If you hammer on it, damage WILL be done to the gear box. Gotta use a special puller, there's plenty of room under there, and it's a snap with the right tool. Gear box MUST be removed on 4WD to replace the pitman arm, ain't no 2 ways about it. Another special puller is necessary to remove the pitman arm from the gear box. 185 foot pounds of torque when installing the new pitman arm onto the gear box. Idler arm is a piece of cake. Use the same puller as separating the pitman arm from the relay rod. When installing, make sure relay rod is within 1/16" of level or you'll have bump steer. It is adjusted by moving the idler arm up or down before tightening it up to the frame. Wheels straight ahead, measure from the center of the inner tie rod stud up to the frame on both sides. If I remember right, it's in the ballpark of 2 1/4".

Air tools make the job a lot easier and faster, but it's still a messy job.
