Front Wheel noise
#1
Hello all,
I have a 2002 Blazer 4WD with 125k on the clock. For the past week or so there has been a noise coming from the right front wheel whenever I am going between 0 and 20 mph. It sounds to me like the bearing is going. Performance hasn't been effected, its not pulling right or wobbling. I called the local dealership for an estimate and they said $575. Does this sound right? I don't really have the money for that availble right now and I don't feel confident enough to try to replace it myself. Is it okay to drive on this for a while or do I risk damaging something more seriously?
Thanks in advance.

I have a noise in the front of mine and just found that the boot on my right front CV joint has fallen apart. Looks like I need to replace the CV joint. Parts are like $60, but I'm sure labor is $400! I'll look into doing it myself. Maybe get a repair manual and start looking.

Its probably the wheel bearing. Its an easy job to do and other than a large 36mm socket for the axle nut there are no special tools required to do the job. You can get a Moog hub assy at Advance Auto Parts and buy it online use promo code 'TRT41' and save $40!! Makes it only $83+tax. That's a lot less than $575
