Kcurry.... I have a rear set of 4:56 gears, not installed yet
And im an starting to worry about the RPM thing at hwy
Speed...according to a gear chart Im looking at it is
saying 4:56 with 33" tires 3000 Rpm's....but at what speed
And is that also including the transmission lock-up...
Currently im running 3:73 gears with 33" tires and gas milage
Is 12.6mpg hwy....a lot less in 4wd ...and in the 10's if I run in
The city.....I took Diatia's suggestion and took in all the factors
Weight, lift , tire size and weight, rotatioal mass..etc...
Im starting to over think this and worry....I cant return a usrd gear
Set and installation and set is not cheap...so I need to be right
The first time....

Well if you find that the 4.56 gears are too low for the 33" tires you'll just have to move up to 35's.

My last wheeling trip out of town a couple days ago I filled up before I left, and filled up when I got home just to see where I'm at, and for everyone's benefit here.
I used 10.9 gallons of fuel for 117.5 miles for 10.78mpg(converted for my us friends).
Of that:
-about 35 miles of semi-flat freeway at 75mph,
-about 55 miles of winding, mountainous highway at about 55mph
-about 20 miles of mountainous forestry roads
The rest was a few hours off-roading at 10mph or less through terrain a mildly lifted Blazer just wouldn't make it through.

On the highway and freeway, it still won't stay in overdrive all the time, and climbing through mountains I still put it in D so it won't hunt gears. If I were to re-gear again, I would seriously consider 5.29s in my case... $.02

so I am in a spot I wanna do the 4.10 gear ratio I run 3.43 atm with a 7.6 rear end. I just purchased a np233c for my 4 door jimmy and having it over hauled. what axles or vehicles carry a 8.5 rear end with 4.10 gear ratio

Look for a front dif from a late 70s, early 80s GM 3/4 ton truck. 8.5" 4.10 were pretty common. If you're looking for a bolt in assy, I don't think they exist in 4.10.

Like Diaita said, I don't think you'll find a S-series 8.5" rear end with 4.10 gears stock. As far as I've ever been able to find anywhere, the only S-series trucks that came with 4.10 gears were the 2wd pickups with 4 cylendar engines. I don't think any S-series 4x4's came from factory with 4.10 gears.
