GET OFF THE RAG. simple steering shaft replacement.
So i found a fix for the rag joint in my 1999 4x4. For a while now i had been getting very sloppy steering, and upon inspection i ifound a bad rag joint. Naturally a peice of rubber didnt seem like a good idea for a steering shaft linkage. So i went to the junk yard and pulled a intermediate steering shaft out of a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x2 (only year model i found to have this shaft). i picked up for $35 went home and got to do a bit of work with a saw (grinder or dremmel tool will work). Cut off the pinched part that holds in the smaller shaft, should end up with a small ring of metal. Then give her a good yank. Ended up a direct bolt in after i got the two pieces apart. Pictures to show process when i figure out howto upload

I tried the xj shaft. Guy at the yard wasn't to thrilled when he pulled it and I didn't buy it because it was backwards. That one seemed like it would work for the 1st gen s10 that had the tulip joint at the other end.
