Help with a noise! Please!!!
Ok...I've read several variations on my issue, but want to get some verification before I start buying parts randomly...
At about 35-60 mph I get a "roar" similar to winter/off-road tire roar. The difference is, besides not having heavy tread tires!, is that it has an uneven pattern to it. (low frequency "whoop-whoop-whoop) The sound doesn't change under acceleration (giving it gas).
I've checked it on a lift and can't get it to happen with no weight on the tires. There's no movement in the front bearings, but there is a slight up and down movement in the rears. Maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 inch slop. I thought I had a brake dragging, but no change after a rear brake job (needed it anyway).
I'm leaning toward outer wheel bearings. Any thoughts would be great.
