Default Help with Steering please

howdy..new here and already I have my first question.......just inherited a 1993 Blazer Tahoe from my son.....runs pretty good.......steering is my problem.......you have to turn the steering wheel about 4 inches to the left or to the right before the vehicle starts to turn....alot of play in the steering.....wondering if you can tell me the most common problem that would cause that...I have a shade tree mechanic friend that inspected the tie rods and ball joints and they are good....on a fixed income and don't want to start replacing items that don't need replacing...also front end was just aligned.....thanks in advance...

Default RE: Help with Steering please

I would first have a look at the steering shaft and the rag joint specifically. A loose rag joint can cause this problem.
