Default Hitch removal

Hey everyone I wasn't exactly sure where to put this but I have an 01 ZR2 and I was wondering how to remove the hitch? I know it has 4 bolts holding it on but I was starting to take them off and it looked like the bolt heads were welded on in a way that you couldn't get it off...is this True?

Thanks in advance
-Derek

No, you can unbolt the hitch, I took mine off a couple months ago to paint it, If I remember correctly its 8 bolts total, 4 on each side. If you have the factory hitch it also doubles as the rear bumper mount so if your wanting to take off the hitch because you don't want it anymore your going to have to get some bumper brackets.

Is your blazer a ZR2? I believe there's a difference, I did just want to pull it off to paint it because it's really rusted but I could only find 4 bolts...
