Default How to completely disconnect 1997 Blazer 4wd?

I have a front differential that's most likely shot, and I don't really have the money to replace it, and even if I did, I'm not sure I would want to invest that kind of $$ in my truck.

I don't really need 4wd, so I was wondering what all I need to do to completely remove the 4wd functionality. I've searched here on the forums and didn't exactly find a full solution. A couple youtube videos do show how to do this, but all I see is them removing the driveshaft that's between the diff and the transfer case, and then the CV axle that runs through the wheel hub on the passenger side.

Is that all I need to do, or do I need to remove something on the driver's side as well? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

sounds good to me, a lot of people actually remove both cv joints but put the stub shaft on the outside back into your bearing and retighten it to spec to hold the bearing together. but yeah both cv joints, front driveshaft and front diff

So, I assume the front output shaft on transfer case is just sitting in there and not supposed to fall out? It is a slip yoke, does the clip hold it in securely once shaft is removed?

Good question Halen, I'm looking for this info too, let me know if you find out anything else, thanks.

Where's this video your talking about?

the slip yolk on these front driveshafts slips inside of itself... but i dont know if leaving that open and exposed like that would be a good idea. i forgot about how the s10 front driveshaft attaches to the transfer case i was thinking of a full sized truck where it just has a few bolts there.
