Default 1997 disconnect brake pedal

I am removing my leaky brake booster. how do I disconnect the push rod from the brake pedal? there's a weird looking retainer clip involved.

You have to lift up on the portion of the clip that goes over the end of the peg on the brake pedal assembly then slide it off the peg.

The push rod came loose easy... but they must've installed the booster then built the car around it. so far, I have removed one nut. Does anybody actually have a step by step procedure that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
