howling noise

RE: howling noise
I went out and bought a wheel bearing last night, my dad is a mechanic at a chrysler dealership so we are going to go threw everything and find this tomorrow. I'm guessing it's the bearing, now along with the howling noise it squeeks like crazy at low speeds.

Put new bearings in (did both.)went for a drive and the noise was still there, put it back on the hoist lubed it all up, went over the whole front end everything checked out fine and took it for another drive, still there. We gave up for the day, i'm just gonna wait for it to get more consistent so it's easier to diagnose where it's coming from.
At least I have 2 shiny new hub assemblies, lol. we even put synthetic in the transfer cases while we had it up.

Just for giggles, how do the sway bar bushings(bar to frame) look. Could be binding slightly, my k5 did that and it was the sway bar bushings. I had replaced the stock rubber bushings with urathane bushings but every so often I have to relube them. Stock rubber bushings don't get lubed per say but if you pull them apart, clean any corrosion off the bar and spray some white lithium lube on them then at least you can rule them out.
Just a thought

we did spray all bushings with lithium grease, no help.

RE: howling noise
When you get this noise happening, try putting it in 4WD just to see if there's a change in the sound or if the noise goes away.

RE: howling noise
ok, we are thinking it's the u-joints now, slight body vibration at 110km(65 for you southern folk) and the noise only seems to happen on acceleration. Sound also seems to be coming from the mid to rear section

RE: howling noise
FIXED.....was one of the rear dust shields rubbing on the drums.
