My encoder motor on my '95 S10 is not working.

Last year, when troubleshooting things, I replaced the vacuum switch with a solenoid operated one. It is controlled by a switch on my dash.

Today I removed the encoder motor and used a wrench to manually activate 4HI.

Will the transfer case being engaged all of the time and the front driveshaft turning all of the time cause a problem? I don't drive it very much, maybe 200-300 miles all winter. I will control the 4WD via the front axle

Thanks

I don't know that the transfer case is meant to be in 4 wheel drive all the time.
