Default limited slip question

Hi guys been a long time lurker turned member. Ok so I have a 98 blazer LT 4x4 with the g80 gt4 option which is limited slip diff and 3.73 gears. I just recently got this truck and noticed a few things. During the winter (I live in Ohio) we had tons of snow and ice and i realized only one tire would spin when slipping and going in a straight line. Now when I would turn either way they both would spin. Well since the snow and crap melted I've noticed that both will spin in gravel dirt ect. but it kinda seems like it hops, like something isnt right. It doesnt make and odd noises or anything of that nature. So what I'm wondering is you think a service on it will make it work better? Or is it too far gone since its not working as it should? Thanks for any help guys

The G80 will not lock over a certain speed (25-30mph IIRC).

If you are getting some clunking or resistance while turning which may indicate that the diff is staying locked up, it may not be long before it fails all together. You can try servicing it and cleaning it really well while working the clutch packs (spin one wheel while you rinse down the clutch pack with brake cleaner). If that doesn't help, I'd start saving up for a new diff.

Thanks for the response. It doesn't make a single noise like something is failing so I think I'll try servicing it and cleaning the clutches like you stated. Thanks again
