That one is for the 8.5" rear diff. It will not work with the 7.625" diff that your truck has.

Even if you swap in a ZR2 rear end and end up needing to replace the G80...it should be noted that there is a difference between the 8.5 and 8.6 axles. It looks like GM switched in 1999, so some of them have 8.5s and some have 8.6s, but 2000+ they all have 8.6. So depending on the year axle you get, you might need some extra parts to get it to work (assuming its designed for an 8.5. If its an 8.6, it wont work in the 8.5!)

but if you welded your spiders together wouldnt that be the cheapest and it would also do the same as a full time locker right??

It could work the same, but its really not the safest option.

By saying "locker", that would imply that it has the ability to unlock. By welding up your gears, you are effectively making the rear axle solid like a spool would do, just a lot more weak...
