Default loose steering

AARRGGHH!! My 2000 ZR2 wanders somewhat when driving down the highway and the same when coming out of turns, especially sweeping turns at fairly high speeds. It's uncomfortable, potentially dangerous when cars are next to me.

I have: replaced ball joints, (aligned front), steering gear box, mid steering shaft, gotten new tires (needed 'em anyway). Got frustrated, took it to a Chev dealer where they replaced the L/F inner tie rod and aligned, plus replaced a large gear in steering hub (ASM?).

The new result is that it feels as if I have ultra power steering; the wandering when going straight on the freeway is new; in a sweeping turn I can now hold it in place, but still have play when coming out of the turn and try to get into the new, straight path.

What the !!&$@!*%#@!! is going on? Any ideas out there?

Thanx, HighAlt

Check to see if they replaced the rag joint on the steering shaft.

X2 on the rag joint.

I ditched mine for a jeep steering shaft with a u joint and not a slab of rubber. Gives a lot better feeling steering.
