Default Lower ball joint shaft facing up???

I replaced the lower control arms on my 2002 extreme two years ago. They came with bushings and ball joints...however...these ball joints are mounted the opposite direction. They're riveted with the ball joint shaft going upwards instead of down. The ball joint snapped on me ( luckily while in the driveway). Can it be replaced with any ball joint? How and or where can I find this ball joint?

The lowers and uppers are different... 2wd and 4wd lowers are different but the 2wd and 4wd uppers are the same...

Or the other way around, just did the wifes sonoma, and one of them were a press in while the other was the same as the 4x4

Good to know. The original lower ball joint shafts were facing down, but these go up. Just concerned if it requires a certain ball joint. The part the ball joint shaft goes into into...(I'm embarrassed I don't know lol) goes through it from the bottom up, with the nut on top of the control arm. Its should be going down with the but on the bottom of the control arm. I'm afraid to put just any auto parts store replacement on it, it being backwards and all
