Lowering a 4wd???
I would like to lower my '89 a few inches but i still want to maintain the 4wd. Why you ask? I carry my mother and grandmother around alot, and my blazer is a little hard for them to get into (plus i like the look).....and i want to keep the 4wd for bad road conditions and such. I do absolutley NO offroading, so the ride height is a non-issue. Can this be done? Can anyone offer a suggestion on a kit? Thanks all
Yes it can be done, but do me a favor and use the search first, there are a few people asking the same ?. Now to you question you can lower the front very easy just loosen the torsion key bolts and the rear just buy lowering blocks.
When I got mine, it was lowered by taking the torsion key bolts out and putting blocks in the rear. I liked the way it sat, until now that I'm doing a v8 swap. Now mine is lifted.
I have a few pictures in my profile showing what it looks like lowered with 18" rims on it.
Oh, and you probably should have put this in the lowering tech section.

Bump... Can anyone explain (Or have a picture) of where the bolt is for the t-keys? Also you said to just loosen the bolts, will they eventually hit the bump stop? How low will it safely go?
thanks alot guys!
thanks alot guys!
The bolts are easy to find. Follow your torsion bar from the lower control arm back to about the rear of the passenger/drivers door. under the car, of course, you'll see a support beam, behind the transmission crossbrace, that is hollow and houses your torsion bars/keys. I have yet to hit my bumpstops with mine cranked 1" down, and it will alter your alignment, but just lowering the front. I think you can get about 1.5" safely, or you could just take the bolts out, not sure if i'd recommend it though. Get lowering blocks in the rear. there is a v8 swap site that sells them kinda cheap I think, if you search s10 v8 swap on google they come up... I would also highly recommend getting a rear sway bar, and possibly a better front one as well. it does wonders for the handling. Ask if you need more.
