Default oops...rear shock replacement

so im changing my rear shocks...and 1 of the clip things,(where the 2 bolts go), broke from being so rusty. the other one is fine and will screw in. but with the broken clip the second one will not go. where can i find this clip thing...i checked autozone and they dont have it. if you dont know what im taking about...its one of those clip things that come with new speakers. its so the screw has somewhere to grab thread with instead of just going straight through. will the dealership have it. i dont feel like going to the junk yard...its been raining in MA for the past 2 days. thanks for any info. and ill do a DIY when i remove the other shock if its not up yet.

A dealer might be able to get the part, otherwise it would probably be a DIY part or a junk yard part.

Check your local salvage yard, the dealer is only gonna rip you off... Sounds like a good thing you took off/checked it! Would suck to find out on the road!

just drop a 5\16 bolt down through the hole and put a nut and lock washer on dont use a lock nut it will be to hard to hold the top of the bolt 8 mm will fit through also

If you go to a parts store that knows what they are selling, NAPA or Car Quest. I used to sell them in the HELP line. You can get them anywhere that sells parts.

probably doesnt matter as long as theres enough room above the tower to the bolt dont hit the body. might have to do going upcause your probably gonna have to leave it on the socket to get it up there with the shock in place and will be a pain to try to start the nut from the bottom. see whatever is easier

It's a pretty standard speed nut. Most auto stores will have them.
