Default power steering fluid..........

.......hi guys, in my handbook it only states a GM part number for steering fluid.
does anyone have any reccomendations?
i think standard ATF (automatic transmission fluid) will do the job, but i am just clearing it up.
thanks,
mick.

Default RE: power steering fluid..........

ATF could work... But why?

Any off the shelf power steering fluid will work and it is not all that much different (cost wise) than regular ATF. Most PS fluids have stop leak and other additives to prolong the health of the pump and seals in the steering system which are different than additives in an ATF product. Stick with what is available.
