Power steering pulley\shaft?

Power steering pulley\shaft?
My question is in regards to the free play movement on the PS pulley. I removed the drive belt, and I can grab the PS pulley and move it front to back a little. Is this normal? It almost feels like there is free play with shaft inside of the pump? Not sure if I making any sense.
