Post Rag Joint Trouble...

Ok, this one might be a no brainer, BUT, does anyone know how in the world to re-attatch the ragjoint to the steering gearbox shaft? I realize you have to remove the binch bolt completely, but do i have to spread that opening to get it on or something?

BTW, its the 2000 4wd.

Doing this from memory, but I believe I've used a big screwdriver or end of a crow bar to spread it apart a little. It's a lot easier if you have the wheels off the ground and you turn the key to the accessory position. First time I tried to take off the shaft, I didn't have the wheels off the ground and there was just enough tension that when I tried to put it back on, splines were off a tiny bit. Once I jacked it up and was able to turn the shaft slightly, it went right on.

I think i just used a hammer and lightly tapped it on there, but the key needs to be in the acc setting so you can move the shaft
