Rare opportunity questions
#1
So this guy I work with has a '99 ZR2 blazer which was totaled but I can buy it from the insurance company (salvage title of course) for $150
Now onto the questions...
would the rear axle be a direct bolt in for my 1st gen? (not sure on spring mounting width differences if there are any)
Would the ZR2 springs length be the same?
Would the front diff fit my 1st gen?
Would the composite skid plates fit?
OR would it just be easier to strip it all and fab new body mounts to put my body on the Z frame? (I'm thinking this would not be feasible due to body and wheel well length differences ...mine is 4 door the Z is not)
And before someone asks the body is totally destroyed he parked in the yard instead of the parking lot at work, tow motor driver didn't see his truck so a 10,000 lb. bundle of steel went thru the tailgate and didn't stop until it was in the backseat.
I looked around the web a bit but can't find any info on using ZR2 parts on a 1st gen am hoping somebody here knows more about the specs and can help me out if not I may just take a chance anyways if nothing else stripping it for scrap weight should more than recover the investment if things don't work out for me.

If you look over the features of the ZR2 package that may help you determine what will fit and what won't.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPO_ZR2#Features
The ZR2 did have a 3" lift on it, I dont recall if lifting involves changing the springs but if it doesn't then they would probably fit.
The ZR2 does have larger wheel and axle bearings, the chassis has some modified mounting points (doesnt say which ones specifically), and it also has a wider track. Those could all cause issues swapping the rear axle.
The ZR2's have the same transfer case options as the other Blazers, so I'd think the front diff would be the same.
Best thing would be to measure mounting points and things like that on the ZR2 and see if they match up on your truck.
