RE: Rear Axle Removal
Besides the typical, unbolt the springs, unbolt the driveshaft, and disconnect the brake lines and parking brake cables, what else do you need to know?
Maybe we can help with suggestions on how to fix the actual problem that you are experiencing. What exactly is going on. Also, what are ya workin' on? Year? Model? Options?

Ah ok. Yes, you will need to remove the diff cover... Now the procedure changes a bit if you have the G80 RPO code (glove box label) which is the gov-loc rear diff locker as opposed to an open diff. Once that is known, I can walk you through the whole process.

Yeah, for the open diff, it is as simple as removing the cover, removing the pinion shaft and the spider gears, then pushing in on the axles and removing the c-clips. Then the axle will come right out.
With the G80 locker, there is quite a bit more parts involved.
