Question Removing an axle nut without wheels on

I'm installing my RC 2.5" lift on my 97 4wd Jimmy and need to remove my axle nut but don't have the wheels on it. I was wondering how to lock up the front axle enough to remove the nut. I have tried braking while trying to remove the nut, but I just spin the rotor. I was hoping you guys could help me out. I know this is a stupid question, but thanks in advanced.

Crow bar and a rag. Position the crow bar with the rag wrapped around it in the appropriate areas between a couple of the studs on the rotor. A helper comes in very handy to hold the crow bar while you crank on the axle nut. You could also use some vacuum tubing/PVC piping of such size to fit just a little loose on the studs.

If you mess up a stud, they are cheap and easy to replace.
