Default Ring and Pinion question.

Does backlash and bearing preload need to be adjusted when the ring and pinion gear are changed?
thanks!

yes. Pinion depth and pinion bearing preload and ring gear backlash and carrier bearing preload all need to be addressed when the ring and pinion are changed.

This. You'll need a few special tools and a fair bit of mechanical ability to do it correctly.

Every time I do one, I'm reminded how patient I'm not. But I'm even more cheap than I am lazy, so I can't bring myself to pay somebody instead.
