Default Differential Upgrade options

I'm looking for information on upgrading to a limited slip differential.

I'm driving a 93 Blazer 2dr 4x4 with a GU4 3.08 open rear end (no G80 code).

What should I be looking for in an upgraded differential?
My goal is to improve snow and mud traction without sacrificing any street drivability. I would like to keep the 3.08 ratio as well as to not risk affecting the function of the 4x4 (and also because I really don't have any issues with the current ratio given my driving habits).

Does anyone have suggestions on where to look for a limited slip differential? Is an LSD even the way to go?
What's the process like for installation?

Any info is appreciated.
