Default service 4 wheel drive light on

On my 99 trailblazer the service 4x4 light comes on but only if i put it into auto 4x4. Then i can't get it out unless i turn the key off, turn it back on and hit 4 wheel lo/hi or 2wd while all the lights are still flashing. Also, it doesn't appear that it actually goes it 4wd while inauto 4x4. I don't have alot of knowledge on 4x4s so any help would be great!!! Thanks all..

If I remember right, the trailblazer edition models came with Auto4wd standard. If that is correct, you need to have a tech2 or equivalent scan tool to diagnose these systems...
