Shock ?
I just bought new shocks and had them installed rancho 5000 series.Well when i push down on the front of the vehicle and let go it comes up and makes a pop sound like the shock wont let it come up as much as it wants. Is it the shocks or is thiis normal with new shocks. Its a 96' 4x4 with shackles in the back and t-bar lifted in front.Should i of got shocks for a 2 inch lift or should i when i replace the back?

RE: Shock ?
The rancho's are the same ones I just put on my Blazer and they are having the same problem. I've tried two different pair of rancho's and they both do the exact same thing. Go with something else cause your always going to have the popping sound with the rancho's.

RE: Shock ?
If they can fit between the cv boot and tie rod turn them around. they won't top out anymore.they will have much better performance.

Are you saying to put the shocks in upside down? or just turn them 180*?
FWIW, I had the popping noise when I installed the Monroe Reflex shocks in the front of my old Bravada. Turns out that the aftermarket shock did not have the same width bushing in the top or bottom, just a smidge smaller. The lower mount tightened up fine, but due to the strength of the top mount, the bolt tightened down right, but the upper shock mount did not. I had to get out the breaker bar and really tighten it down to make it tighten up properly. Noise went away after I did that. So check for play at the top of the shock and see what you find. I could be as simple as tightening the crap out of that top bolt!

when I got my rancho's for my 1994 s-10 blazer they recomended installing rod end down without the boot. mine made the same noise. I called the tech at rancho. he said if they would fit it's best to install them rod end up. that is the way they are intended to be installed. I guess some models of rancho shocks are thicker and they won't fit between the cv boot and tie rod. when I changed mine and installed them rod end up they were perfect.
