Default Slowing down the steering

How do you slow down the steering on a 89 full size blazer 4x4? If you turn your head you could end up in another lane. I want to make it less sensative. Does that mean changing the steering column, an adjustment in the column or what? With the short wheelbase and all its just wicked to drive.
