If you are comparing a rack and pinion steering setup to the reciprocating ball setup (steering gear box), you will never be happy. A recip ball setup will always feel sloppier around the center when compared with the extremely linear effort of a straight up rack and pinion setup.

But I agree, replace the parts and see how you like it. Some of the sloppy feeling can be taken out by adding a steering stabilizer. Jegs, SummitRacing, and other online sites often have universal steering stabilizers for light trucks. Be aware that your steering effort might increase due to the stabilizer.

thanks for the help. would they sell something like that at Auto zone or some place like that.
and would it make it drive /steer tighter? my blazer has .5-1.0 inches of give on both sides. is that normal?
