Strange upper ball joint question
Today I was installing front shocks on my 2000 Chevy Blazer 4x4 and I noticed the (aftermarket) upper ball joint plates are mounted under the control arm. I find this strange because every upper ball joint I have ever installed on a 86-2001 S10 had the mounting plate installed on top of the arm like the factory way. The only thing on the top of the arm is the bolt heads and grease zerk right now...
Anyone ever see this before? Maybe the guy that owned it before me installed them wrong?
Thanks

Yah they should be on top unless they are some odd aftermarket. Can you read any part numbers or names off of it?

No part numbers that I can see, the grease boot is sky blue. Guess I will just replace them to be safe.

probably flipped for a little extra lift

how much lift could you gain from that? maybe a quarter of an inch? 3/8? i think the guy just didn't know what he was doing.
from the color of the boot, i'd say they were Spicer's. a very good product (lifetime warrenty), i'd put them right up there with Moog.

Yah they are spicer with those blue boots most likely, but it could be nonspicer labeled super cheapies all the way up to the lifetime spicer professionals. Is the blue boot kind of accordian looking or is it just round?
