toe in, toe out
Hey all, The passenger side tire in the front was wearing on the outside pretty bad and come to find out that the idler was bad so i replaced that and that fixed the outside wear on the tire. I had a friend replace the outer tie rod end while i was at work on the drivers side because it was wore, and he said he counted the turns but it was rubbing really bad, so i turned it out a couple of turns and its a little better but still wearing on the out edge of the tire. I said he should have measured the tie rod length to get it accurate because the new tie rod end was a different length than the old 1, ( shorter rod with more threads) so now my question is if it is wearing on the outer edge of the tire a bit do I have to go in or out with the tie rod, I am thinking i have to go out a little bit. I am trying to get it pretty close so i dont have to spend 75 for an alignment

Well, there's your problem there.
But really, sounds like it's had some sort of steering problem before, due to an off center steering wheel. It pulls to the right, when you're tryin' to driving straight, correct? Or is the wheel even off center, as in, you can't turn it to the left?

Did you have good alignment before your work?. You need to lock the streeing wheel straight and it will take a few tries of adjusting it till you get it at the right spot it took me about 8 tries removing the tire and adjusting and test driving it Well worth it! then paying for an alignment. Your outer edge wear that would mean you have the tire pointing inward to much. Also did you check your ball joints.

Well I jacked the blazer up and gave it about a turn and a half out on the tie rod end and it is much better, the steering wheel is straight and it no longer pulls hard to the right. all I have left is to get the pitman arm changed and my new tires on and I will be set for this winter
Thanks
Thanks
